While the latest jailbreak, Pangu for iOS 7.1.1, has been tested and cleared as safe, it may be as well to avoid using it until it has been in circulation for a while and any serious issues with it have come to light. However, if you have already upgraded and you are suffering with bugs or other issues, it could be something to do with PPSync. This is the Chinese version of AppSync, which most people will know is associated with piracy.

PPSync is downloaded as default with the Chinese language version of Pangu and, unless you can read Chinese, you will not know how to stop it from downloading. PPSync has known issues – it has not been written very well and will cause stability problems with apps such as Weather, Safari and Mail. You will know if you have an issue because these apps will crash as soon as you launch them. You may also notice icons disappearing from your hoe screen, your iOS device respringing itself for no apparent reason and other odd behavior.
Karen Tsai is a very well known iOS developer and she has created a package called Complete PPSync Remover, which is available in Cydia. You will need to add her repository to Cydia before you can download it .
How to Remove PPSync after Pangu Jailbreak :
- Open Cydia
- Tap on Manage
- Tap on Sources
- Tap on Edit
- Tap on Add
- Type in this exact URL: http://cydia.angelxwind.net/
- Tap on Add and Cydia will install the repository.
- Once installed, open the repository in Cydia and search for the package.
If PPSync is a necessity in your daily life and you don’t want to remove it, Karen Tsai recommends that you install AppSync Unified. This is an open source version of AppSync that works on iOS 5 – iOS 7.x.x .
PPSync Removal During Pangu Jailbreak :
Karen Tsai is a visible figure in the jailbreak community and she has plans to request that the Pangu team replace PPSync with AppSync Unified. She will also request that an option is included for users to disable the download of PPSync and the 25PP certificate but isn’t sure if that will be acceptable or not.
It must be said that we do not condone piracy in any way and will not take any responsibility for any problems or loss of data resulting from the download of pirate apps.
For those of you who have not yet installed Pangu jailbreak, an update has been released which is now in the English language and removes PPSync from the equation. It is still bundled with the Chinese version though. Full instructions on how to download and install can be found here.
