Since its release several days ago, Pangu Jailbreak has proved to be very popular. Fully tested by P0sixninja and Musclenerd, the jailbreak was reported to be genuine and free of malware but despite the fact that it is a clean jailbreak, some people are suffering from one or two issues with it.

The first was experienced by those who downloaded the original jailbreak and found themselves in a boot loop. The fix for that can be found in the given link. The second issue has arisen since the tool was updated to v1.1 – some users are complaining that some of their app icons disappear from their home screen following the jailbreak.
There has been no comment on this issue from Pangu team as of yet but there is a chance that it is down to a compatibility issue with a Cydia tweak. If this is the cause then the answer is to delete that tweak. The question is, how do you determine which tweak it is that has caused the problem. One way to do it is to delete your downloaded tweaks, one at a time, in the reverse order that you downloaded them, i.e. the last one downloaded should be the first one deleted. That way you should be able to determine which one is causing the issue.
Alternative Solutions :
- Install Mobile Terminal or OpenSSH
- Run uicache
- If it works, com.apple.mobile.installation.plist will be reloaded and the icon issue fixed.
If that fails :
- Download iFile [ext link] from Cydia.
- Use it to locate /var/mobile/library/caches/
- Delete the following two files from there – com.apple.LaunchServices-056.csstore and com.apple.mobile.installations.plist
This should sort the problem out although you will have to rearrange your icons again afterwards.
Warning : Please only delete these files if you know what you are doing. It is very easy to delete the wrong system file, which could result in you having to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod. If you have to restore, you will lose all data that has not been backed up and you will have to reinstall the jailbreak.
Other reasons for app icons disappearing are linked to the use of AppSync and AppCake, both of which give the user access to pirate apps. If you are using either of these, remove them as they are the cause of the issue and there is no other fix.
Have you suffered from this or any other problem since installing the Pangu jailbreak? How did you resolve them ?
