It’s been an exciting year for Apple. Not only have we seen their iOS completely overhauled for the first time since inception, we’ve had 2 new iPhones and a new iPad released already. And, it’s not over yet. The end of this month should see a further release, the iPad Mini 2 with Retina display with a new Mac Pro desktop out in December and the refreshed lineup of MacBooks already on the shelves.

The iPad Air made its debut on 1st November and has provided another piece of the puzzle for the jailbreak developers. Apple is keeping iOS 7 updated to fix the numerous bugs and issues that have arisen since it was released, with 7.0.3 being the current version. Musclenerd, evad3rs team member, has confirmed that this does not have any adverse effects on the iOS 7 jailbreak so people can upgrade if they wish to.
The iPad Mini 2 should be the final stepping stone for the developers and there are some who believe that the jailbreak will be released as soon as the Mini 2 arrives. While it is possible, it isn’t likely. At the end of the day, there is more to building a jailbreak tool than just throwing a few exploits together and the final testing procedure alone could take weeks.

Evad3rs have got hold of the iPad Air for testing purposes and will work on this while they wait for the iPad Mini 2. There isn’t any point in releasing a jailbreak that doesn’t support the newer devices – after all, it won’t take long for Apple to discover and patch the exploits that have been used in the jailbreak so the more support there is up front, the better.
