We now know that, following a software release on 10th March, Apple has managed to completely shut down the iOS 7 untethered jailbreak, Evasi0n 7. If you are currently enjoying a jailbroken iOS 7-7.0.6 device, you will want to avoid updating to the new firmware at all costs.

This is nothing new; as with every jailbreak release, Apple follows it up with a series of software updates, which will eventually patch the exploits used to build the jailbreak. iOS 7 saw 6 software updates before the final one worked its Apple magic.
According to Pod2g, member of team Evad3rs, they are not planning on doing any work on a jailbreak for iOS 7.1 although he doesn’t rule it out for himself if he has nothing better to do. However, iOS 8 is expected in the fall and it’s likely that this will be their main focus.

It is thought that iOS 8 will be unveiled and the first beta released at WWDC in June, exactly as iOS 7 was a year ago. At that point, the developers will be able to get to work and see what is involved and find any exploits that may be available for use.
If you haven’t jailbroken your iPhone, iPod or iPad yet and can’t decide whether to do so or update, its worth remembering that iOS 7 opened up a lot of new doors for jailbreak app developers. Cydia is now home to plenty of brand new apps and tweaks with support for iOS 7 and the new Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
