Back in February evad3rs released Evasi0n, the long-awaited jailbreak utility for iOS 6. It was the single most successful untethered jailbreak in a long time, supporting almost all iOS devices that were capable of running iOS 6. Despite subsequent iOS upgrades by Apple, evasi0n kept up, running alongside it successfully. Unfortunately, by the time iOS 6.1.3 was issued, Apple had figured out which exploits needed closing and shut down evasi0n for any device that upgraded. Developers have bootrom jailbreak for iOS 7. Its only a matter of time , when Apple released the iPhone 5S / iPhone 5C and soon after developers will release the jailbreak. We need to see if they implement it on Evasion or rename it to a new jailbreak tool .

However, if you remained on iOS 6.1.2 or lower you can still jailbreak your device using evasion. Even if you have upgraded to 6.1.3, provided you have an iPhone 3GS, 4 or iPod Touch 4 you can use Redsn0w to carry out a tethered jailbreak or Sn0wbreeze to download back to 6.1.23 and then use evasi0n for the untethered solution.

As far as iOS 7 goes, there is going to be an untethered jailbreak, there is no question about that. Evad3rs are currently hard at work upgrading evasi0n to support iOS 7 but this will take some time. They cannot work any faster than each iOS 7 beta is seeded and certainly cannot release the jailbreak until after iOS 7 has been publicly rolled out. Once this has been down, evasi0n will have to undergo testing on a range of devices to make sure it works OK and on the different operating systems.

Right now, we do not have any information regarding the release of evasi0n for iOS 7, just that it won’t be yet. Although the backbone of evasi0n is already there, the operating system is completely different and, as such, the utility has to be built in a different way. The exploits have been available for some time so evad3rs have a head start – remember it took them 5 months to jailbreak iOS 6 – it shouldn’t take so long this time.
As soon as we have any firm information on the release of the evasi0n jailbreak for iOS 7 we will let you know. Subscribe to our newsletter for up to date information direct to your inbox.Sponsored Links
