In the last 18 months, we have seen an unprecedented amount of jailbreaks, with a high percentage of that activity for iOS 8 alone. We know now that, following their release of an update to Evasi0n 7 to jailbreak iOS 7.1.2, Evad3rs have disappeared from the scene and have not been heard from since, either as a team or as individuals. So, given that we can no longer rely on Evad3rs for jailbreaks any more, what other options do we have open to us ?

Well, plenty as it happens. When Evad3rs bowed out after iOS 7.1.2, a new team showed up to give us the iOS 7.1.3 jailbreak. Completely out of the blue, a team called Pangu arrived from China and, following the success of that jailbreak, continue with one for iOS 8-8.1. Unfortunately, this was patched within one month and, while we expected to have to wait a while for a new one, it came much sooner than we expected in the form of unknown team number 2 – Taig – also from China.
While Taig kept things going for iOS 8.1.1-8.1.2, the one thing they did not do was produce a version of their jailbreak for Mac users, leaving them to either go without or use a fiddly workaround to get Windows onto their Macs, before being able to install the jailbreak. Not a problem because, along came PP, the third unknown team, from China, with an iOS 8-8.1.2 jailbreak just for Mac users.

Although iOS 8.1.3 has patched all of these jailbreaks, including the one for iOS 7.1.3, provided you have not updated to the new firmware, you can still use any one of those jailbreaks on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Follow the links below for download and installation instructions :
- iOS 8-8.1 – Pangu for Mac or Windows
- iOS 8.1.1-8.1.2 – Taig for Windows or Mac Workaround
- iOS 8-8.1.2 – PP for Mac Only
Anyone who has updated to iOS 8.1.3 has lost their chance to downgrade and install the jailbreak now as Apple has stopped signing iOS 8.1.2. At the moment, we don’t have any real news on the next jailbreak but there is a good chance it won’t be until iOS 8.2 is released in March. Any news we hear will be passed directly to you.
