Over the years, Cydia has been upgraded and improved to become one of the most important aspects of jailbreaking. However, it isn’t just the jailbreak tool and Cydia that go in to providing what users want. Cydia Substrate is an important part of jailbreaking and without it, Cydia wouldn’t be what it is today.

Saurik works hard to keep Cydia running properly and updated to support the latest firmware and today he has updated Cydia Substrate. According to the change log, it has a number of new and enhanced features, all of which will benefit users, some of which were the result of developer requests.
Cydia Substrate is now at version 0.9.5100 and, as requested by developers, it can now inject into a lot more iOS 8 daemons, locate many more private symbols, get into shorter armv7 functions and move even more arm64 instructions. Anyone who is running the iOS 8 jailbreak on their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch should update to the latest version of Cydia Substrate to ensure they get the best out of their jailbreak experience.
How to Update Cydia Substrate :
Updating Cydia Substrate is an easy task, taking no more than a minute or two:
- Open Cydia
- Tap on the Changes tab
- If there are no updates showing, tap on Refresh
- Tap on the Cydia Substrate update
- Follow the installation instructions
- Restart your iOS device and you will have the most up to date version of Cydia Substrate
UPDATE – Saurik has now updated Cydia Substrate to version 0.9.5101 to fix an incompatibility issues in the previous version. The incompatibility was with running certain extensions together, the most common one being CC Settings and GroovyLock.
