If there is one thing we have not been short of in the last couple of years, it’s jailbreaks. iOS 8 alone has seen three different teams join in and, surprisingly, one of them was not Evad3rs. The last time we heard from them was in July 2014, when they stepped back from jailbreaking iOS 7.1.1, saying that they wanted to concentrate on iOS 8 instead. We have since heard that they have retired from the jailbreak scene although no one knows what they moved on to.

But, we do have three other teams, as we said, and each one has produced perfectly working stable jailbreaks that we can most certainly rely on. Pangu first appeared on the scene with iOS 7.1.1 and were the first to produce a working jailbreak for iOS 8 to iOS 8.1. That was patched a month after release by IOS 8.1.1 and, although we thought then we would be waiting a while for a new one, instead it was released very quickly.
This time though, it came from another unknown team called Taig and, following thorough testing, their jailbreak was pronounced to be one of the most stable ever released, as well as extremely easy to use. Taig produced one more jailbreak, for iOS 8.1.2 but failed to give us a Mac version. Instead, Mac users were prompted to install external software to get Windows onto their machines in order to use the existing jailbreak. Not long after team number three appeared, PP, with an iOS 8-8.1.2 jailbreak for Mac users only.

We know that iOS 8.1.3 has patched all iOS 8 jailbreaks but, so long as you don’t update beyond iOS 8.1.2, then you can still use any of these jailbreaks on your iOS device. The links below will take you to full tutorials, including download links, for each one .
- iOS 8-8.1– Pangu for Mac or Windows
- iOS 8.1.1-8.1.2– Taig for Windows or Mac Workaround
- iOS 8-8.1.2– PP for Mac Only
If you have upgraded to iOS 8.1.3, you can no longer downgrade as Apple no longer signs iOS 8.1.2. We can’t tell you when the next jailbreak is going to be released, hopefully for iOS 8.2 but it could be later on this month, at or after a Mobile Security Summit hosted by Taig. but we will bring you more news on that as we hear it.
